The coast on the Ionian coast of Salento
The coasts are wide and sandy especially over the Ionian Sea, whose waters at this latitude are characterized by transparency and rare colors. Among the most well-known sandy beaches deserve mention Marina di Pescoluse, Ugento, Lido degli Angeli, Porto Cesareo, Torre Lapillo, Punta Prosciutto.
Also worth mentioning the Park of Porto Selvaggio, established in 2006, which includes both the area of the nature park (established in 1980) and the swamp (classified as a natural area in 1997). The coast is rocky and irregular, and is characterized by pine trees and Mediterranean plants. This area is rich in history and archeology, with many archaeological sites such as the Cave of the Horse, recently mentioned by the most important scientific journals. It is a magical place rich in flora and fauna.
